  • The two and a half hour drive takes you through a picturesque route where women on both sides of the road can be seen selling organic fruit and vegetables.
  • We reach Kohima and check into our hotel where a welcome drink awaits you after the long journey.
  • This is a relaxed day where you can take you time to explore the town and then return to the hotel for dinner.
Day 2 (Viswema Village- Dzukou Valley) (B, L, D)
  • Have breakfast at hotel and then drive to Viswema village. From here, we begin our trek to Dzukou Valley. Situated at an altitude of 8000 ft., Dzukou Valley is an idyllic paradise of wildflowers, emerald hills and pristine streams. Known as the Valley of Flowers, Dzukou is one of Nagaland’s best kept secrets and appears like a celestial mirage to those who see it for the first time. In spite of the remoteness of its location, Dzukou Valley is a favoured destination for trekkers with some great trails.
  • The first part of our trek is possibly the most arduous as we climb steep vertically laid stone steps to get to Dzukou. The stones are covered in algae and you have to watch your step not to trip and fall. This stretch continues for about 1 kilometre and is surrounded by silver birch trees and other exotic sub-tropical foliage. This is a moderately challenging trek and we take a few breaks to catch our breath before continuing. At one of these breaks. we stop for lunch.
  • We resume our ascent post lunch and finally reach the top of Dzukou. Words don’t do justice to describe the beauty that awaits you. Rolling expanse of green on all sides is dotted with the flecks of white and pink lilies.
  • We take some time to just sit and savour the views before making our way to the trekking based, located about 5 kilometres away.
  • We reach our base in the evening where we spend the night in trekkers’ huts or tents. Sit around the campfire and enjoy a well-deserved dinner as you reflect on the highlights of the trek.
  • After dinner, retire to your tents for the night.
Day 3 (Dzukou Valley- Ghost Caves) (B, L, D)
  • Today is spent just exploring the environs of Dzukou Valley and its many facets like caves, natural flora and icy rivers that criss-cross through the region.
  • A 15 minute walk from our base takes you to Ghost Caves or Bhoot Guha as they are locally called. The cave stretches for 1 kilometre inside and we can spend some time exploring its interiors with flash lights.
  • We will also hike down to the bottom of the valley,  discovering hidden trails and streams along the way.
  • At the end of the day, we return to our camp and spend our last night in Dzukou.
Day 4 (Viswema- Kohima War Memorial) (B, L, D)
  • Today, we wake up early to see the glorious sunrise. After an early breakfast we begin our downhill trek to Viswema via Jakhama. On reaching Viswema, we will drive to Kohima where we spend the last night of the tour.
  • You can take the evening to explore the town and do some local sightseeing.
  • We will visit Kohima Museum known for its display of tribal artefacts.
  • We also pay a visit to the Kohima War Memorial dedicated to the memory of ten thousand Allied forces killed during the Japanese army’s invasion during World War II. Interestingly, Manipur and Nagaland were the only two states where World War II was actually fought in India.
  • Return to the hotel in the evening for the last night.
Day 5 (Departure from Dimapur) (B, -, -)
  • On the last day of the tour, we have an early breakfast at the hotel and then depart for Dimapur. It’s a bittersweet time where you have to say goodbye to this heaven on earth and leave with a heart full of memories.
