  • Arrive at Guwahati where our representative will receive you at the airport. Drive to Kaziranga National Park in our luxury SUV where complimentary hotel towels and min eral water bottles will be provided for your comfort. En route, we will make a brief stop at Sonapur, home to the Treasured Wheel Museum that has several vintage automobiles and motorbikes on display dating back to World War II. After this, we continue our journey to Kaziranga National Park. On arrival, you will check into a hotel. Depending on the time of your arrival, you can enjoy a late lunch or snacks. The rest of the afternoon can be used to relax and recover from the exhaustion of the day’s journey. In the evening, enjoy a bonfire and traditional Bihu dance on request. Tonight, dinner is a traditional Assamese fare of local delicacies. There are both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options to choose from. After dinner, you can retire to your rooms for an early night.
Day 2 (Kaziranga Jeep safari- Addabarie Tea Estate- Majuli Island) (B, L, D)
  • Today we get an early start for a jeep safari inside Kaziranga National Park. The safari will begin at the Bagodi/Kohora range and include an extensive tour of the park. Keep your camera ready to capture the variety of birds and animals that you’re likely to spot throughout the range. After the exciting morning excursion, return to the hotel for breakfast. After a short rest and freshening up, visit the Kaziranga Orchid and Bio-Diversity Park, the largest orchid park in India with hundreds of species of the exotic flower. After a quick lunch back at the hotel, visit the famous Addabarie tea estate near Tezpur. The expanse of rolling tea gardens and colonial-era British bungalows make this a popular destination for tourists. From Addabarie, depart for Majuli Island. We reach our hotel in the late evening. After a long day’s exertions it’s an early night after dinner.
Day 3 (Visit to Satras of Majuli- Mishing village- traditional Assamese dinner) (B, L, D)
  • Today, we visit the famous satras or neo-Vaishna vite monasteries in Majuli to learn about their fascinating culture and history. Satras typically include a prayer hall (Namghar) at the centre with surrounding dormitories for resident monks. In addition to the rich cultural heritage of Assam, these Satras have been preserving antiques invaluable to Assamese history. These include weapons, jewellery, utensils, etc and can be found displayed at the satras. The largest river island in the world is also home to several indigenous tribes of whom the Mishing tribe is the largest community. We will visit a Mishing village in Majuli and discover their ancient trades and crafts including the rare art of mask making, weaving and pottery. We return to our hotel in the evening and unwind with a glass of locally brewed rice beer called ‘Apong’. Dinner is an authentic Assamese spread made with fresh local produce and includes such delicacies as ‘Paro Manxho’ or pigeon meat in an aromatic gravy, Komora diya Hanhor Manxho, a spicy duck- meat curry cooked with ash gourd and ‘Xaak aru bhaji’, a vegetarian delight cooked with herbs and an assortment of spices.
Day 4 (Ferry ride to Jorhat- Lachit Maidan) (B, L, D)
  • Today, we have an early breakfast at the hotel and then depart by ferry to Jorhat. Here, we visit the oldest burning oil lamp in the world at Dhekiakhua Bor Namghor. Also on our itinerary today is the Lachit Maidan, named after the bravest army general of the old Ahom army, Lachit Borphukan. Each year the best cadre from the National Defence Academy (NDA) is awarded with an honour named after the legendary general. You can spend the rest of the evening exploring the town with a stop at the famed silk showroom for an Assamese treasure to take back home. Return to the hotel for the last night of the tour.
Day 5 (Sivasagar - Dibrugarh Airport) (B, L, -)
  • After breakfast, leave for Sivasagar located 60 kilometres away from Jorhat and known as the capital of the ancient Ahom dynasty. This is the longest unbroken dynasty in the history of India, having ruled most of north east for 600 years between 1228- 1826 CE. Be awed by the engineering brilliance of ‘Rang Ghar’ and ‘Talatal Ghar’ at Sivasagar. Sivasagar literally translates to ‘ocean of Shiva’. The name is apt as the town is built around a massive man-made water tank. Talatal Ghar was initially built as a base camp for the Ahom army. It has three underground storeys that remain closed to the public and four storeys above. Talatal Ghar like much of Ahom structures resembles Mughal architecture. It includes an octagonal temple and large open terrace. Recent excavations by ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) have discovered more wooden structures and logs at the site. Rang Ghar on the other hand was the royal sports pavilion where Ahom kings would watch traditional games like buffalo and elephant fights. From Shivsagar, we depart to Dibrugarh airport where the trip comes to an end and you leave for your onward journey.
